Static Friction
Parked go karts: Example of static friction in go karting.
Fluid Friction
Go Kart Breaks: Example of fluid friction in go karting.
Rolling Friction
Straight away driving: Rolling Friction example in go karting.
Sliding Friction
Drifting: Sliding Friction example in go karting.
In this video, the driver of this kart demonstrates all four types of friction. when turning sharply, he performs sliding friction as his tires drift across the asphalt. When the driver heads straight down the street this is an example of rolling friction because he is not turning at all. Also, when ever you see the kart stop or slow down this indicates that the driver is using the brakes and therefore there is friction between pieces of the breaks and the break oil (Fluid Friction). Finally, every time the driver starts the car and drives off, he is over coming the static friction to get the kart moving.
